A Warm Summer Night

Strolling though the jungle on a warm summer night,
I’m enjoying the breeze in the waning light,
Endless valleys and limitless stones
These bones- these bones they walk alone

Nocturnal animals are questioning my senses,
Night owl is out with his moves so pensive
Off the sycamore and red oak tall shadows fall,
Hiding the wolf and his soulful call.

Lake loons and turtles are making their splashes,
As into the water the bullfrog dashes,
Clicking of bats flitting in the air,
Chirping of crickets and the huffing of a bear.

I stop for a moment to listen to it all,
And I cannot begin to recall,
A better symphony than I hear tonight,
As I walk through the woods in a warm summer night

    1. Well Sid, I’ll tell you. You know there’s a community park near my locality and it has a large pond, almost the size of a cricket stadium with running track around the circumference. It has little ecosystem of it’s own, with lush green vegetation and birds and insects. So, I go there on evening strolls to get some inspiration. It’s such bliss, plus you get a simulation like you’re really walking through the woods😄
