A Serene Night

The symphony has started
and the darkness does descend
the world succumbs to quietude
the day has reached its end

The nighttime woods are glittering
and offer up a show
a dazzling performance
by the fireflies, aglow

The river reeds are swirling
with the crescent moon’s glow
broken and shattered still
it rises up – nice and slow

The earth and the sky above
offers a spectacle, that lord sway
heart lays still
and all my troubles seem to fade away

The Thrill

Across a gloaming valley
Down the dimming trail
a shadow against the crimson skies
Hoofbeats fast
dusk’s failing fire
Stormy winds
Twinkling stars
whispers in the chill night air
Between what lies ahead and what remains
Hustle, scuttle and thrill
emotions of a yearning soul!

One day when I woke up at night!

One cold, sunny day
When it was raining outside
the glorious dark brightness
was perky and sublime.

The midnight that evening-
the morning at noon –
was late in October
One May in June.

I sat where I stood
as I ran, lying still
Deep down in the abyss
Over the hill.

The fish in the tree
Were sleeping in their nests
Birds were swimming
As the sun rose from the west.

Raccoons playing trumpet
Ducks hunting crows
The people beside me
were swaying to and fro.

Yes, that’s what I saw
when my eyes were closed tight,
one cold, sunny day
on a rainy, snowy night.

Crack of dawn

At midnights I wait

Wait for something apparent

Till I realize

That’s not what I want

So I refocus

I listen to the silence

To the wonderful loving silence

As the murky night engulfs

The skyline

Full in itself

And I realize the wait

Was for its appreciation

Calling attention to itself

Calling out for laud

And unequir admiration

As hours pass by pondering

In the stillness of dawn

I hear the sounds from within

Echos of silence, of existence

Of infinity, of love

On the edge of a new day

I hear the call

I feel the urge of renascence

Of growth, of life
